Founding Venture Partner – Strategic Intelligence & Commercialization

Washington, DC Area | Flexible / Fractional

The Opportunity

Bonvalet Group, a Washington-area technology and international affairs advisory firm, is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded professional to help commercialize and grow Bonvalet Signals, an emerging strategic intelligence offering designed to help institutional leaders anticipate risks, understand geopolitical and economic developments, and make more informed strategic decisions.

Unlike a conventional startup opportunity, Bonvalet Signals has an established product, a defined analytical framework, and an active production and distribution process. The next challenge is commercial expansion.

We are looking for a Founding Venture Partner who brings commercial judgment, institutional relationships, and an interest in helping build a scalable intelligence business.

This is an opportunity to work directly with Bonvalet’s founder to develop new markets, secure institutional customers, establish strategic partnerships, and help shape the commercial direction of a growing intelligence offering.

For the right person, the role offers a potential pathway to broader operating leadership as the business develops.

What You’ll Do

The Venture Partner will initially focus on commercial development, market expansion, and customer acquisition, with responsibilities spanning four areas:

Business Development & Customer Acquisition

  • Identify and engage prospective institutional customers across investment management, private equity, infrastructure, energy, international business, and related sectors.
  • Develop relationships with senior executives, investment professionals, risk managers, and other institutional decision-makers.
  • Lead introductory conversations, product presentations, and commercial follow-up activities.
  • Develop and manage a qualified pipeline of prospective customers.
  • Help convert initial interest into paid subscriptions, institutional agreements, and advisory engagements.

Market Development & Commercial Strategy

  • Help refine Bonvalet Signals’ market positioning, value proposition, pricing, and commercial packaging.
  • Identify emerging customer requirements and opportunities for new applications.
  • Evaluate prospective market segments and recommend priorities for expansion.
  • Translate customer feedback into actionable recommendations for product and service development.

Strategic Partnerships & Distribution

  • Identify organizations, professional networks, and potential distribution partners that could accelerate market adoption.
  • Develop opportunities for institutional collaboration and strategic partnerships.
  • Expand the venture’s visibility among relevant executive and professional audiences.
  • Help establish relationships that support recurring revenue and longer-term commercial growth.

Venture Development & Growth

  • Collaborate with the founder on commercial priorities, growth objectives, and operating plans.
  • Contribute to the development of repeatable customer acquisition and retention processes.
  • Identify opportunities for additional products, services, and recurring-revenue relationships.
  • Help establish the commercial foundation for an increasingly independent business operation.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in accomplished professionals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Strategic intelligence, geopolitical risk, or political-risk advisory services
  • Institutional business development and consultative B2B sales
  • Investment management, private equity, or institutional financial services
  • Corporate strategy, enterprise risk management, or international business
  • Commercialization of subscription-based information, data, or analytical services
  • Strategic advisory, executive research, or professional information services
  • Business development involving sovereign investment institutions, multinational organizations, or government-related entities

The strongest candidates will combine commercial initiative, executive-level credibility, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can engage senior decision-makers, identify commercially meaningful problems, communicate the value of sophisticated analytical products, and develop relationships that lead to sustained institutional business.

An established professional network is advantageous, but the ability to build new relationships and convert opportunities into revenue is equally important.

What Success Looks Like

During the initial phase, success will involve establishing a qualified institutional pipeline, validating commercial positioning with prospective buyers, developing productive customer relationships, and securing initial paid engagements.

As the business grows, the Venture Partner may have the opportunity to assume broader responsibility for commercial operations, customer relationships, business planning, and growth initiatives.

The longer-term objective is to help establish Bonvalet Signals as a sustainable, recurring-revenue intelligence business serving institutional decision-makers.

Partnership & Compensation

This is a flexible, fractional independent venture-partner opportunity, structured around participation in commercial success rather than a conventional salary.

The selected partner will be eligible for an agreed share of revenue collected from qualifying subscriptions, institutional agreements, and commercial engagements they help originate, develop, or secure.

Specific participation terms will reflect the individual’s responsibilities and contributions and will be established through a written agreement.

There is no fixed salary or guaranteed compensation at this stage. The position does not convey ownership equity or authority to bind Bonvalet, and the Venture Partner title does not establish a legal partnership.

The initial arrangement is intended to accommodate an established professional interested in developing a new commercial venture while maintaining professional flexibility.

Successful commercial performance may create an opportunity to transition into a broader operating leadership role, subject to mutual agreement, business performance, and the availability of sufficient revenue to support expanded responsibilities.
