Founding Venture Partner – international Finance & Development
Washington, DC Area | Flexible / Fractional
The Opportunity
Bonvalet Group, a Washington-area technology and international affairs advisory firm, is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded professional to help develop and commercialize a new initiative focused on sovereign finance, international development, institutional risk, and the execution of development-finance programs.
We are looking for a Founding Venture Partner who brings deep expertise, established institutional relationships, and an interest in building innovative solutions to persistent challenges in international finance and development.
This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping an emerging venture, working directly with Bonvalet’s founder to refine its market position, engage prospective institutional clients, and translate specialized knowledge into commercially viable products and services.
What You’ll Do
The Venture Partner will play an active role in developing and commercializing FLOW, with responsibilities spanning four areas:
Product Development & Strategy
- Help refine the venture’s value proposition, service offerings, and market positioning.
- Identify persistent operational and financial challenges affecting development-finance institutions, sovereign borrowers, and investment programs.
- Contribute subject-matter expertise to the development and validation of new products, analytical frameworks, and decision-support capabilities.
- Provide strategic input on product priorities, commercial applications, and opportunities for expansion.
Business Development & Institutional Engagement
- Identify and cultivate relationships with multilateral development banks, development-finance institutions, sovereign investment organizations, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Engage senior decision-makers to understand institutional priorities, operational challenges, and unmet needs.
- Participate in exploratory meetings, presentations, and business-development discussions.
- Help develop qualified opportunities and translate institutional feedback into actionable commercial requirements.
Solution Development & Client Delivery
- Contribute expertise to the design, validation, and implementation of selected client solutions.
- Support the development of advisory engagements, analytical tools, and institution-specific applications.
- Collaborate with technical specialists and other subject-matter experts to ensure that products are practical, credible, and responsive to institutional requirements.
- Participate in selected client engagements and support successful delivery.
Thought Leadership & Venture Growth
- Represent Bonvalet solutions selectively in professional networks, industry forums, and institutional discussions.
- Contribute to executive briefings, presentations, articles, and other thought-leadership activities.
- Identify opportunities for strategic alliances, pilot programs, and institutional collaboration.
- Help establish Bonvalet’s reputation as a credible, innovative participant in the development-finance ecosystem.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in individuals with significant professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Multilateral development banking and international financial institutions
- Development finance and sovereign lending
- Sovereign wealth funds and national development funds
- Public investment management and project finance
- Development-program implementation and financial operations
- Infrastructure finance and investment execution
- Institutional risk management and portfolio oversight
- International economic development and public financial management
- Financial technology, data analytics, or technology-enabled institutional solutions
Experience working with senior officials at multilateral development banks, development-finance institutions, ministries of finance, sovereign investment organizations, or related entities would be particularly valuable.
The strongest candidates will combine institutional credibility, commercial judgment, and an entrepreneurial mindset. They should understand how complex financial institutions operate, recognize opportunities to improve institutional performance, and be comfortable engaging senior decision-makers.
Experience originating business, developing institutional partnerships, or launching new commercial initiatives is highly desirable.
What Success Looks Like
During the initial phase, success will involve helping validate Bonvalet’s value proposition with prospective institutional customers, identifying commercially attractive applications, developing qualified institutional relationships, and securing initial pilot or commercial engagements.
As the venture develops, the partner may assume broader responsibility for product direction, institutional relationships, commercial development, and market expansion.
The longer-term objective is to help establish FLOW as a sustainable, scalable business serving institutions engaged in sovereign investment and development finance.
Partnership & Compensation
This is a flexible, fractional independent venture-partner opportunity, structured around participation in commercial success rather than a conventional salary.
The selected partner will be eligible for an agreed share of collected revenue from qualifying engagements and activities they help develop, originate, or deliver. The participation structure will reflect the individual’s contributions and responsibilities and will be established through a written agreement.
There is no fixed salary or guaranteed compensation at this stage. The position does not convey ownership equity or authority to bind Bonvalet, and the Venture Partner title does not establish a legal partnership.
The arrangement is intended for an established professional interested in helping build a new venture while maintaining flexibility and pursuing meaningful commercial upside.
